An unexpected band of heavy snow was expected to unload as much as 4 more inches over Long Island by early evening on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, building up even more dangerous road conditions that stretched the winter advisory to 1 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Clear skies and calm conditions greeted Long Island on Tuesday morning, but it's what the winter weather left behind that poses the largest challenge for commuters.
