The driver of a Stony Brook Fire Department fire chief's vehicle was airlifted after being involved in an accident in Hauppauge early Thursday. Suffolk County police officials told local newspaper Newsday that the fire vehicle collided with a car at Routes 111 and 347 around 12:30 a.m. The female passenger in the car was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.
