The Suffolk County Police Department will recognize many sworn and civilian members of the department for their life-saving efforts, including saving the life of Police Officer Mark Collins and Detective Nicholas Guerrero. Collins was seriously injured after being shot twice during a traffic stop in Huntington Station on the night of Wednesday, March 11. Guerrero suffered a "very serious head injury" after he and another officer were struck by a car they had just pulled over in Huntington in September.
