Police: Long Island man killed when suspect steals car

A Long Island man trying to deliver food to a soup kitchen was killed Friday when he was run down by a man trying to steal his car in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store in North Bay Shore, Suffolk County Police said. Homicide detectives said Dionel Ramirez, 69, of North Amityville, had left his car running in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store on Pine Aire Drive in North Bay Shore at 5:45 a.m. He went into the store to pick up excess food to bring to a soup kitchen when he noticed that a man had hopped into the driver's seat of his Hyundai and was trying to drive off.
