Suffolk County Police say Salvatore Tornatore was driving a 2008 Cadillac west on East Jericho Turnpike, just west of Engelke Avenue, when his Cadillac entered the eastbound lane and struck a car carrier trailer at about 2:30 p.m. Tornatore, 94, of Huntington Station, was transported to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck, Michael Nicienski, 45, of Rhode Island, was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.
