The Suffolk County Sheriff's Office announced that a local officer was named "Officer of the Year" and awarded The Howard C. Stock Memorial Award at the 45th Annual Police Awards sponsored by the Southampton Town Kiwanis Club. Correction Officer Monique McCray received the top award during a ceremony held at the Atlantis Banquet Hall in Riverhead on Friday, January 23. Each year, fifteen East End police organizations compete for the coveted distinction, and also gather to pay tribute to exceptional officers from each agency.
