SPCA: Dog Chained to Cinder Block Found Dead in West Islip Canal Likely Drowned

A $3,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the death of a dog found chained by her neck to a cinder block in a West Islip canal last Thursday, the Suffolk County SPCA announced on Sunday. The female brown and tan colored Rottweiler mix, estimated to be about 7-years-old, was found floating in a canal behind a home Secatogue Lane East on Thursday morning by a resident who wishes to remain anonymous, according to the SPCA.
