Police: Cop hit while attempting to make traffic stop in Bayport

A Suffolk County police officer was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries after his patrol car was struck by a passing pickup truck as he waited to make a traffic stop along the shoulder of Sunrise Highway in Bayport on July 11, 2014.
