The Suffolk County Police Department will recognize many sworn and civilian members of the department for their life-saving efforts, including saving the life of Police Officer Mark Collins and Detective Nicholas Guerrero. Collins was seriously injured after being shot twice during a traffic stop in Huntington Station on the night of Wednesday, March 11. Twenty-eight sworn members of the department will be recognized for their bravery at the SCPD's 50th annual awards ceremony at 7 p.m. at Stony Brook University on Tuesday.
