In five-day span, Cuomo raises $900K

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's campaign reported receiving roughly $900,000 in donations between Oct. 27 and Halloween, according to 24-hour filings received by the state Board of Elections. A credit card was stolen from a 2009 Dodge Ram that was parked in the driveway of a residence on Birchfield Court in Coram on October 20. Cops: Woman, 19, Killed in Wheatley Heights Crash

Suffolk County Police say three people were traveling in a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro, heading northwest on Little East Neck Road at the merge of Colonial Springs Road when the vehicle veered off the road into a wooded area on the west side of Colonial Springs Road at approximately 4:20 a.m. Carla Flores, 19, of Wyandanch, a passenger in the back of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The owner of the vehicle, Joseph Dunn, 20, of Dix Hills, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for non-life-threatening injuries.

Retreat gets federal grant

The Retreat, based in East Hampton but serving victims of domestic violence throughout Eastern Suffolk County, is receiving $75,250 in funding through the Federal Family Violence Prevention and Services Act, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced October 29. New York State received a total of $4.3 million through the program to distribute among various nonprofit domestic violence services agencies. "Too many families experience violence at home, and my administration has made it a priority to help New Yorkers break this cycle of abuse," Governor Cuomo said, in announcing the grant.
