Man Wanted for Robbing Chinese Restaurant in Deer Park

September 17th, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying and locating the man who broke in to a Chinese restaurant in Deer Park in July. On July 23, at approximately 1:30 a.m. a man shattered the front glass door and entered the New Fortune House Chinese Restaurant, located at 187 Bay Shore Road.

College student critical after being hurt in fight

A Long Island student attending college in upstate New York is in critical condition after suffering a head injury during a fight last weekend. Police tell The Daily Star of Oneonta that 21-year-old Tyler Giancola of Westhampton in Suffolk County hit his head on the pavement after being punched in the face early Saturday morning in downtown Oneonta.

Victor Fuentes was walking on Suffolk Avenue when he stepped off the curb and was struck by a car that was westbound on Suffolk Avenue, near Pineville Road, in Central Islip at 11:30 a.m. Fuentes, 32, homeless, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.

SCPD Arrest Mount Sinai Student for Making Terroristic Threats

September 16, 2014 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a Mount Sinai teenager for posting a threat of violence on social media directed toward his high school. Officials at Mount Sinai High School notified police after they were alerted by parents and students regarding an anonymous threat posted on a social media application, Yik Yak, that stated there would be a shooting and bombing at the school on September 16. Following an investigation by Sixth Squad detectives, a 15-year-old male student was arrested and charged with Making a Terrorist Threat, a Class D Felony.

September 16th, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are seeking the public's help to identify and locate the man who stole a person's identity to buy gift cards at a store in Huntington Station in May. A man entered the Apple Store, located at 160 Walt Whitman Road, and purchased $1500 worth of gift cards using another person's credit card information on May 12. The man was described as black. He was wearing a black T-shirt, tan pants, black sneakers and a black and red Atlanta Braves hat.

Three-Year-Old Girl Injured in Hit and Run Crash

September 16th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a Middle Island man that left the scene of a crash that injured a 3-year-old girl. Scott Shea, 30, was driving a 2005 Jeep northbound on William Floyd Parkway, south of Montauk Highway, when he struck a 3-year-old girl that was riding in a stroller.
